Ochomesonline.com exists for one reason: most home improvement advice tells you what a project looks like, and almost none of it tells you what the project is worth. We are here for the second question.
What We Cover
We focus on improving home value – remodeling decisions ranked by what they return at resale, not by what they look like in a showroom. Our guides follow the money: replacement and remodel costs, cost-versus-value data across US markets, contractor hiring, and the exterior and interior projects that move an appraisal. When national data exists – the annual Cost vs Value Report, industry cost studies, market surveys – we build our articles on it and say so by name.
How We Work
- Data first. Articles cite named sources with their scope and year, because a “113% ROI” means nothing without the project definition behind it.
- Honest about trade-offs. We publish the projects that lose money too – knowing what not to renovate is worth as much as knowing what to renovate.
- Practical scope. Real installed price ranges, not teaser numbers that leave out labor.
- No miracle promises. Resale figures are market averages, not guarantees; we tell you when a decision is about enjoyment rather than equity.
Editorial Standards
Every article is written and reviewed by the site’s editorial team, and we update existing guides when the data changes rather than stacking new articles on stale numbers. If you spot an error, tell us – corrections make the site better, and we would rather fix a page than defend it.
How We Are Funded
The site is supported by advertising and affiliate partnerships. Where content contains affiliate links or sponsored placements, they are disclosed on the page, per our disclosure policy. Compensation never decides what we recommend – the cost-versus-value data does.
